Through our experience and research we aim to educate our audience to workout safer and more efficiently when they are in the gym. Connor Barber CPT
Connor is a personal trainer with his certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). During high school, Connor trained with a former Division I college basketball coach, Dave Spiller, who’s professional resume include working with NBA players and Olympians, such as Michael Redd. He went to school for chemical engineering at Ohio State University where, in between his studies, he developed a passion for lifting in a manner that supplemented sports performance. While playing basketball in intramurals and pick-up games several times a week, Connor developed conditioning workouts to strengthen his body to withstand the wear and tear of the hardwood floors. He used these workouts to overcome the knee pains and other chronic conditions that would have otherwise restricted play or resulted in an extended hiatus from athletics.
He, thus, began working with friends and colleagues to help them in learn how to workout efficiently to improve knee and back pains. He educated himself through scholarly research articles and textbooks by renowned biomechanist such as Vladimir Zatsiorsky and Paul Chek. Learning the science of strength and conditioning encouraged him to get his certification in personal training alongside his chemical engineering degree. Connor has been training clients for over a year and a half now, and he has no intention of slowing his education as he in strives to obtain his Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Aaron Barber ATC, PES
Aaron is a board certified athletic trainer and performance enhancement specialist certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is a former college athlete with experience working at both the high school and collegiate levels. He specializes in strength training and injury prevention with proper mechanics being the focal point of his training. He has given presentations concerning FMS, overhead athletes, and low back pain in adolescents. He currently works in the occupational health setting developing wellness programs and tackling injury prevention through early intervention.
Aaron has been in athletics his entire life, which means that injuries accompanied his experiences as well. From having to struggle through knee surgery to bulging discs, Aaron understands the physiological and psychological aspects to sports and how to train accordingly for them. His evidence-based approach to training and injury prevention optimize his workouts for his clients to ensure they achieve their highest potential.
